Kobina Tahir Hammond, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, looks dissatisfied with the fact that three persons have been permitted to run against him in the next New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary.

KT Hammond, as he is generally known, allegedly petitioned the national leadership of the NPP, combined with certain executives of his constituency, to get his rivals in the primaries disqualified to no avail.

Speaking in a video broadcast by GHOne TV from an engagement in Accra on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, the Adansi Asokwa MP, who is also the Minister for Trade and Industry, voiced his anger at being challenged in the approaching primaries despite his extensive experience in parliament.

He was particularly upset by his suggestion that the three candidates who will challenge him in the January 27 primary are not from his area.

“Kojo, you’re not looking at me. I don’t know how many people are contesting you. See, NPP that is what we know to do best. When you have been in parliament for 24 years, you have three people contesting you even if they don’t come from your constituency,” he said.

KT Hammond, who has been a member of parliament since January 2001, will face challenge from Sammy Binfo Darkwa, Kwabena Asamoah, and Dr. Boakye Acheampong in the next primaries on January 27, 2024.
